Family Dysfunction Persisted

March 21, 2017

As you may have heard by now, noted literary lion Chelsea Clinton has published a new book.
With a speed of hand that would shame Mickey Spillane or Edgar Wallace, the Great Weird Hope of the Clinton dynasty got a book deal (the favored corporate method for bribing people in political life) and in doing so she inadvertently shows us how untreated child-abuse travels through the generations.

The book bears the name SHE PERSISTED, a PR phrase coined to promote another book deal – that one for the already wealthy Senator Elizabeth Warren.

In the Clinton Clan, persisting has a perverse history.

By now, who doesn’t know the story of Hillary as a 4 year-old getting thrown out of the house by her abusive mother? The child had endured taunting from bullies in the park, as most children do, and so she ran home to her mother for comfort and succor. What did this FOUR YEAR-OLD CHILD get instead? As Hillary compulsively relates it over and over again, even 65 years later, her mother had the love and foresight and compassion to… throw her out of the house.
Mother Rodham blamed little Hillary for the situation, said she “gave up” and called her daughter a coward who she would not welcome in the home until THE BABY dealt with the tormentors.
Slam went the door. Does anyone, other than Hillary, really believe this callous treatment had a salubrious effect on the child?

Hillary Clinton has, for the past 65 years, related that story with pride. She says it shaped her character. Well, yes, it did. But not the way she seems to think. To Hillary Clinton, giving up means losing mother’s love and – more to the point – getting kicked out of the house. One can only imagine the depths of fear and anxiety – Separation Anxiety – this “loving mother” sparked in her infant child.

As Dr. Gabor Maté notes: “In an anecdote related by the former Secretary of State herself as an example of salutary character building, four-year-old Hillary runs into her home to escape neighbourhood bullies. ‘There is no room for cowards in this house,’ says her mother, sending the child out into the street to face her tormentors. The real message was: ‘Do not feel or show your pain. You are on your own.’ Over six decades later the candidate hides her pneumonia even from her doctor and from those closest to her. Repeatedly she has overlooked her husband’s outlandish infidelities, defending him against disgrace— no doubt suppressing her own emotional turmoil in the process.”
(Emphasis added)

Hillary Clinton has never received treatment for this early-childhood trauma – and to me, every single time she relates the story she presents a 4 year-old’s repressed cry for help. To this day, Clinton shows an irrational view of the world as a place populated by “bullies” who she, and she alone, MUST stop. She even cited this as her Raison D’être for seeking the Presidency upon receiving the democratic nomination.

And then, in her own words, spoken in her first speech after losing the election, Hillary Clinton had one strong message:

For Mrs. Clinton, 65 years after her mother terrorized her by throwing her out of the only home she knew, giving up – no matter how useless the fight may be – means the loss of love and home.
Sheer stubbornness has become a virtue in Hillary-Land. What manner of person NEVER concedes loss? Or error? Or understands the pragmatic need for a strategic concession to an opponent? I’ll tell you what manner of person: A DANGEROUS PERSON.

Untreated family abuse wends its way down through the ensuing generations. So it came as no surprise to me to see that Chelsea Clinton, an adult-child who owes everything she ever got to her parents, also carries this mania. And in the aftermath of her mother’s embarrassing election loss to a known “bully” and TV game-show host, it falls upon the adult-child to become the mother Hillary wanted but never had. Thus the topic of Chelsea’s new book fits right into mommy’s mania – as the cover makes crystal clear:

The child taking care of the needs of the mother perverts the natural flow of life. Yet this child – at age 35 – has made a career of just that. Making speeches for mother (and in a subtle way sabotaging her in the process – displaying resentment) and even talking of entering politics herself – a clear attempt by a chile to vindicate the family after repeated losses and scandals. I mean, let’s face it, after seeing the sheer hell that BOTH her parents underwent, what child would say “THAT’S the career for me!”? Would Chuck Wepner, Jr. ever consider boxing? Hell, even the NIXON off-spring knew better…

Does Chelsea really see stubbornness as a virtue? Or has she taken up the call simply to soothe her wounded mother? And for god sake WHY peddle this swill to CHILDREN? Can this adult-child not relate her feelings to grown people? I see it as bad enough when family abuse gets passed on through the generations. But to deliberately pass it on to children one does not even know becomes a form of mass abuse. All to justify a mother who has long had the time and ample financial resources to GET THERAPY and change the warped view of the world she brags about carrying… ONE speech to Wall Street would have paid for Hillary’s therapy and then some.

Upon seeing the announcement of this book, I got hit with a wave of sadness. I hoped that Chelsea’s children don’t face similar horrendous abuse. Considering that the abuse has gotten mythologized as “character building,” will Chelsea take the chance to throw her own children out of the house at age 4? Will she do as her grandmother did, and make a mother’s love conditional

If Chelsea sees the delusion of stubbornness as a virtue, and sees it as good enough to spread to countless unknown children through her book – I wonder how she sees her own children? And their children after her? Where does it end. When she has a son, will she name him SUE?

Well, that comprises the problem which the Clintons must one day face. OUR problem, I see as more alarming: We as a nation must learn to stop electing to positions of power those damaged people who still suffer under the weight of untreated childhood abuse. But because of the alarming rate of abuse in America, such wounded and deluded people resonate with the bulk of our neighbors. Possibly even you… or me.

Seeing Danger Everywhere

March 9, 2017
—–
Last year former CIA head Leon Panetta found himself drowned out at the Democratic convention with shouts of NO MORE WAR:

Just a few days ago, the 78 year-old Panetta told CBS news that Trump’s tweeting weakens the presidency and  (GASP!) prevents him from starting wars. This… is a disappointment to him?

“I think, I think that is raising the most serious danger with regards to the ability of this president to relate to a very dangerous world,” Panetta said.

Dangerous world…

One of the key components of the far right-wing mindset is the firm belief that we live in a dangerous world which must be subdued and conquered through strength.

Rudy Giuliani is a case in point.
I remember seeing Giuliani give a speech to the GOP convention back when he was considered relevant. Like many conservatives he sees threats everywhere. After that, he spoke about this almost every time he delivered a speech. He insists that the world is a dangerous place, filled with people who want to kill us.

How does this happen to a person?

As with many fear-based people, Giuliani suffered early-childhood abuse at the hands of his parents and he now labels that very abuse as the best thing that ever happened to him.
Giuliani – even today at age 72 – tells the story of being a 3 year-old in Brooklyn where the other kids worshiped, as children are often wont to do, the Brooklyn Dodgers, their local baseball team.
At that time, Giuliani’s father – for reasons unknown, other than the fact that his record shows him to be a sadistic thug (of the type Giuliani later make a career out of prosecuting) – would dress little Rudy in a NY Yankees uniform and send him out of the house. For wearing the uniform of the Brnox team in Brooklyn, Rudy would get beaten up. Every day. And his old man did nothing to help. In fact, he just kept sending Rudy out in that uniform – which all the other kids hated.
Sounds pretty grim, right?
But Giuliani says that what his father did helped build character. Well, yeah, a WARPED character.
From the NY Times in 1989:
When Mr. Giuliani was about 3 years old, his father, a dedicated Yankees fan, bought his son a Yankees uniform and cap. Mr. Giuliani’s mother dressed him in the uniform and sent him out to play in Flatbush. He was pounced on by a group of boys almost immediately. They were Dodger fans.
”They took the hat and threw it in the mud,” Mr. Giuliani recalled. ”They threw me in the mud, too, and probably whacked me around a little bit. I ran upstairs and either my mother or father said, ‘Well, now you’re going to be a Yankee fan.’
”So,” he continued, ”I kept wearing that Yankee uniform, and I kept getting thrown in the mud.”
He is still a Yankee fan.
Note the repression: the kids PROBABLY whacked him around. He doesn’t know? He cannot tell if his mother or father gave him dubious advice that he still obeys, yet he QUOTES that advice?
He was THREE YEARS OLD at the time and was still relating this tale of woe at age 45.
At over 70 he continues.
These are signs that a person suffered greatly and still carries it about in a repressed/mythologized way. Is the brutality Rudy suffered at the hands of the kids at a truly formative age, and his family’s indifference to his suffering, the reason for his seeing the world as a dangerous place? For him, at the time it was dangerous! Whatever the cause – and this is the alarming part – Giuliani STILL insists on wearing a Yankee uniform whenever he can. He sends out SIGNED pictures of himself this way. As an old man, Giuliani is still reacting to a situation that happened in 1947…
Compare Giuliani’s story with the story of Hillary Clinton’s mother having thrown her out of the house at age 4 – and her need to repeat the tale over and over and over while insisting that it was an act of motherly love and character building. Hillary’s mother did this because Hillary was abused by bullies and she came home crying. Clearly what the mother did – rejecting a child in pain – was worse than anything the other kids did. A 4 year-old RELIES on the parent. But her mother punished her in a most horrible way that without doubt set off a crisis of separation anxiety. And this too NEVER left Mrs. Clinton. Even as an elder, she still needs to please her dead mother:
People with untreated/unresolved childhood trauma are not “crazy” nor are they necessarily “bad” people. They are damaged people. These people suffer deeply yet they will never acknowledge it. After 60 years of living like this, it becomes not a part of who they are but who they are in their entirety. And putting such people in positions of power is dangerous. Lethal. Ask the surviving citizens of Libya and Honduras – where Hillary “stood up to bullies” – how they liked having her help…
Clearly, there exists in such damaged people a stubbornness that makes them adhere to the self-created mythology of their brutal childhood – while projecting it onto the world. They still say, to dead parents, It’s NOT my fault, Mommy/Daddy! The WORLD is DANGEROUS! Don’t blame ME!
In my work as a Tarot Consultant I regularly hear from people who have undergone the most horrible things that life can throw at a person. Yet they sought out help and coped with the problems in a productive way. They all have in common a willingness – a desire! – to face the issue and resolve it so they may not be dominated by dead fears.
None of us grew up unscathed. But many of us got help in dealing with these things rather than allow them to fester to the point where we compulsively live our lives in reaction to a situation that no longer exists.
On a personal note: For years I have told people that I had a childhood only Charles Dickens could have written. I can never undo it – but I don’t have to mythologize it. The physical torture I endured and the mental abuse – these are part of who I am and always will be, but they do not RULE or DEFINE who I am.
Because I got help.
The last thing I can imagine about myself is that at age 70+ I will be standing in front of people I don’t know, repeating day after day stories of early childhood abuse and praising my parents for inflicting this damage on me.
Looking at Hillary Clinton and Giuliani, I have to wonder what happened to Panetta so many, many years ago that now, at age 78, he can face a crowd of THOUSANDS saying to him NO MORE WARS and have it mean absolutely nothing to him. He SMILED at this! I would certainly question myself if I underwent that experience. Judging from his subsequent comments, Panetta only saw that as confirmation that the world is dangerous – meaning, the world is against him personally.
Do we really want such people in charge of our society?
Really?

A Manhattan Christmas Story

December 21, 2016

rockefeller-tree

NOTE: Not long ago we received this memory from an unnamed Hell’s Kitchen writer, who assures us that his neighbors all pass him on the street every day… without ever seeing him.

When my kids were little, long before I became what I am now, which is a booze-hound, Christmas time was always something special. It still is special for me ‘cause they haven’t yet closed down all the soup kitchens. The City Fathers missed a couple of soup kitchens in their drive to improve the quality of life in this town by killing off everybody who doesn’t work three jobs and make a hundred grand a year just to pay the rent. So I can still look forward to a meal of turkey with trimmings in some church basement somewhere. Along with the food, the do-gooders give us bums little Christmas presents. It’s nice. Don’t you like getting presents? I do. Last year I got some Old Spice and a soap on a rope. It was green and shaped like a seahorse. I liked the way it smelled. But I accidentally left my soap hanging in the rooming house bathroom down the hall one day and that was the last I saw of it. I don’t know why, but when I found the soap was gone I cried like a baby for two hours. And I never cry. A stupid piece of cheap soap. Archie the bartender who took the pledge was right. Booze does turn your brain to mush.

It was Christmas time and I ran out of money again. A card game this time. Looking for free things to do, I thought it might be fun to see the tree at Rockefeller Center. I usually enjoy the colored lights and all the happy kids giggling and acting like, well, like happy kids. So yesterday, even though I had no money to speak of, I left my room and headed over there. In the daylight you could see that this was one hell of a big tree. Why’d they go kill it? I stood in the part of the plaza they call the Channel Gardens cause on one side is a British building and on the other side is a French building. I was looking at the tree when I noticed this woman with her son. The kid was about six, I guess, no more than seven, and the woman had him bundled all up like he was Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon even though it wasn’t really so cold out. It couldn’t have been cold cause I was there and I don’t own a coat. That’s why I’m inside today, writing this. Today it’s freezing out. And I don’t own a coat. So this woman has her kid by the hand and says, “look, Lawrence, look at the nice tree. It’s beautiful isn’t it.” She wasn’t so much asking him as she was telling him. Surprisingly, the kid said “no.”

“But it is beautiful,” the mama said, giving the kid a little tap on the back of the head.

“It is not,” the boy insisted.

“Yes it is,” she said, giving him a harder tap.

“I don’t like it.”

“Yes you do!”

This time she gave the kid a clip on the head so hard that I could feel it. The boy wobbled a bit but held his ground.

“It isn’t beautiful! It stinks!”

“It is beautiful!” she says then CRACK! a tremendous shot across the back of the kid’s head. In my day, I seen prize fighters kiss the canvas on less.

“Isn’t mommy right? Isn’t the tree beautiful?”

When the boy didn’t answer, she lifted her hand again.

“It’s so beautiful, mommy,” he said like he really meant it.

“Don’t you just love it?”

“Yes mommy, I love it. I love it.”

“And do you love mommy?”

“Yes. I love mommy.”

She smiled and they went away, both of them happy. I’d hate to be around when this kid gets married. His wife cuddles up to him and coos, “do you love me?” and he says “I love you more than anything” then he proves it to her by belting her right in the sweetbreads. I only hope he finds somebody who’s into that kind of thing. There’s plenty of them out there.

I looked back at the tree, and so help me, now I didn’t think it was very beautiful. Then I cringed, almost feeling a swift hard smack on the back of my head. I turned around as fast as I could and went across the street and down the block to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. I prayed for that kid.

A Summer in the City Memory

August 11, 2016

File this under: The World Moves On, Dept.

For me, as a child in the city, if my parents couldn’t send me to camp for the summer – and we didn’t know from year to year if that was possible – summer meant spending all day with “the gang” roaming Riverside Park or Central park with friends. Of course I use the word “gang” in its loosest possible sense. Crime didn’t enter into it. All that much.  We’d hit the park each toting along a canteen, generally filled with Tang, and a compass, and that most indispensable of exploration gear – walkie-talkies. We may have been in the park, mere blocks from home, but in our adventures we explored Mars! The Moon! We formed an elite commando unit moving through the growth to rescue The Boys trapped on a Pacific Island… we went everywhere and did everything. Not bad for city kids whose Boy Scout Troop met in what would shortly become Plato’s Retreat.

batman-bat-coder

There was a time – could it have been so long ago? – when low power, 100mw, walkie-talkies were so popular that every hit movie or TV show issued a set to go with the entertainment. 007, Batman, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Lost in Space – all had walkie-talkies. G.I. Joe had an “official” set! And the frequency they used crackled and buzzed with intrigue and derring-do, all punctuated by the calls of, “Can you still hear me?”

walkietalkie

Sometimes, for SUPER-SECRET tasks, we used Morse Code. Some walkie-talkie sets had a copy of the code printed on the front of the “transceiver,” as we called them with Popular Science bravado. But most of the neighborhood kids memorized the code. That was then… So “Twentieth Century.” Does anyone now in these sophisticated, Hi-Tech days, use Morse Code?

I still have a pair of “toy” walkie-talkies, circa 1981; late in the cycle to be sure, but just the same as they always were, right down to the bleating Morse Code key on the side. Today, my erstwhile passport to adventure serves a more mundane purpose. Like when one of us has to go to the tenement roof to adjust something, or stay in the apartment while someone investigates that leak in the basement… Where is the fun in that? Who needs dots and dashes for a leaky roof?

10186913_1_x

A few afternoons back, I took out one of my vintage “toy” walkie-talkies to take a listen. 35-40 years back, in summer this gadget would have been a wall to wall mishmash of pre-teen messages flying through the ether among kids out at a hard day of play. Today? What did I hear? Static.

I suppose the fun of this kind of thing has been rendered passé by text messaging and cell calls… Or maybe kids just don’t go out on adventures when at home they have an XBox to play with rather than the real world… Do they know the fun they are missing? How does an old-timer explain it?

007walkietalkies1

As kids we had great fun with these – and we did some wild stuff – including a few adventures we all swore to secrecy. I will still never admit to those didoes and escapades even under torture. Now, instead of fizzing and buzzing with the sounds of kids exploring the moon, or raiding the enemy over the hill… these frequencies are silent.

I still get the urge now and then to take one out to listen. Sometimes I send messages to… to nobody. They all grew up and the magic is gone…

Have you got a set of these? Maybe one summer day you too may give in to the urge and dust them off, stick in a 9v battery and listen. If you find yourself in or around Hell’s Kitchen, you may hear me breaking the silence… and who knows… I may hear you and answer back.

Supreme Court Hysteria… Don’t Buy It!

August 5, 2016

So many people who have only a sketchy idea of how our government operates are quivering in fear over “losing” the Supreme Court. And when that happens ALL OUR RIGHTS WILL BE REPEALED!!!!!

First of all… look at my earlier posts here about FEAR.

People who instill fear in you are playing you. They are manipulating you. They are causing you to FEAR simply to further their own political agenda. There is a word for people who use fear to promote political change: TERRORIST!

So if you are one of those frightened people, take a deep breath and read, because your fears are toothless… BEHOLD:

This may shock some of the people only now paying attention, but the US Supreme Court does not have the final say in anything.

What they do can be undone or even superseded. For over two centuries, our government has had an effective set of CHECKS AND BALANCES which temper radical changes, and prevents any one branch from controlling things. Ask President Obama, who – although wildly popular – cannot get his new right-wing Supreme Court nominee a Senate hearing, and who has had much of his “legacy” tossed out by the courts as unconstitutional.  Those are our checks and balances in action.

You fear: SUPREME COURT WILL ELIMINATE…… whatever your pet cause is…
Well, the court almost never hears cases they have already decided and even Clarence Thomas (put on the court by Democrats!) has often said that they will not reverse “settled law” including Roe v. Wade. To do so would bring utter chaos.

But… what would really happen if they did? Suppose a radical court just decided to reverse all manner things?

To see what would happen, let’s look at a recent time when the Court actually did eliminate something:

In 1972 the Supreme Court voided all death penalty sentences.
And we have not had a person put to death in America since… right?
Right?
Here is how it works.
The court only says that something violates the constitution, in their majority opinion. Not whether it is good or bad, right or wrong. So let’s say they opine that Same Sex Marriage is unconstitutional AS WRITTEN.
Then the laws get re-written. Or, and here is something lawyers know but most citizens do not: Local jurisdictions CANNOT give fewer or less legal rights than the Federal Government does but they CAN give MORE rights than the federal government.
So even if Same Sex Marriage is rejected by SCOTUS, your state and all the states can do it anyway.
And going by the decision that threw it out, the states will tailor the law to survive a court challenge.
Then it will be allowed.

Just as they reintroduced the death penalty.

But it takes… Work.

Hitting the streets. Lobbying. Organizing. And yes, many people worked hard for the right to kill people. Can you work that hard for life-affirming laws you support?

Remember: The Supreme Court is but one PART of one of THREE co-equal branches of our government.
They do not have the final say. Not by a long-shot.
Ask anyone on death row.

How To Decide Anything…

August 1, 2016

Mardi Gras readings

In my work as a Tarot card reader, people frequently asked me how they can best select a personal reader for themselves.

Many factors go into this decision, but I do have one bottom line: if you feel worse after a reading than you did before the reading, never go back to that reader. A reader who fills you with anxiety and fear is preparing to fleece you. An ethical leader helps you.

The same can be said of choosing a political candidate. If you listen to a candidate or see their ads, and you come away feeling scared, that is not the person to vote for. I don’t care what party they may be in, for their age or their gender. One thing is perfectly clear: Inducing fear in you is a way to stop you from thinking rationally. Fear puts us into the Fight/Flight mode and curtails thinking. That is the only reason to put anyone in a state of fear.

You can see the fear technique in full display here:

Whether it be a Tarot reader, to whom you tell your deepest thoughts, or a politician in whom you put your deepest hopes, avoid anyone – and I mean anyone – who deliberately scares you. There is money and power in fear. It’s your money and your power that gets taken.

Speaking of The Music Man, that show is set in the year 1919. That’s the same year in which a very important book on the subject of fear appeared: Unmasking Fear by Lloyd Kenyon Jones. To read more about that book, and a new edition for which I provided the introduction, click this image:

HUNCHES Have No Business In Law Enforcement!

Click This Image For The BEST Book Ever Written About Developing Psychic Powers!

The NYPD loud-mouth Pat Lynch is furious (again) that new NYPD guidelines – as delivered from an American court of law – prohibit cops from arresting or frisking people based upon a hunch.  Find the story HERE
What the fool Lynch does not get is that hunches belong at the race-track, not in the American justice system. In America, the Founders were explicit about curbing the power of the police. They knew full well the injustices of the Royal Constabulary and wanted none of it in the new nation they were building.  Thus CAUSE is the basis for arrests. Reasonable cause. If he can do it without moving his lips, Lynch may wish to read a little thing called THE BILL OF RIGHTS. He will find nothing in there about government by hunch. He will find this: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.”

So what does that mean; “unreasonable”?
Unreasonable means, without a stated reason.
“It just seemed reasonable to arrest him,” is NOT what that means. “Reasonable” means based upon a reason; a solid articulated reason. Just like a jury acquittal must be based on REASONABLE doubt – being a doubt that has a reason – rather than a gut feeling that the defendant is innocent. The government and agents of the government need reasons when they do things under official color. Over the years, the word has lost its meaning. “Gee, seven bucks for a whole pizza sure sounds reasonable,” is not what the word means. In legal terms REASONABLE cause depends on having a reason which can be articulated and described. Hunches, by their very nature, are not in any way, shape, or form, based upon a reason. Here is how my dictionary defines a hunch:noun: a feeling or guess based on intuition rather than known facts.”

Nobody should be stopped by the police, investigated, or arrested because someone in power has a “feeling.” That is, on its face, an unreasonable stop. What Lynch, in his supreme ignorance, does not know, is that cops have NEVER been allowed to stop people based on a hunch. The fact that they were doing it anyway and getting away with it was, as the court rightly ruled, illegal, unconstitutional, and UN-AMERICAN. Period. If this punk Lynch wants to stop innocent people based on intuition, ruin lives based on vague feelings, let him move to an oppressive dictatorship which routinely rounds up people for no articulated reason. Under our Constitution, Americans have the freedom to be safe from police abuse. We also have the freedom to get the hell out of the country and renounce our citizenship, if we, as is the case with the execrable Lynch, so deeply hate the U.S. Constitution and the rights it codifies. Get lost, Lynch. Grab a plane and go. You will have plenty of company.

Is There A Place For Hunches?

Hell yes! Hunches DO have a place in life – just on a personal level, not in terms of government intrusion into our lives. The person who cleans up at the track based on hunches, for instance, is a well known phenomenon. Having a hunch about an investment, or a hunch about walking down a certain street for no reason then finding something important – these all happen. Many years ago, a book about hunches detailed some stupendous, verifiable instances of amazing things happening to people as a result of hunches.  Hunches that pay off are so common in our personal lives that there must be something happening. While that does not raise them to the Constitutional level of justification for legal action, hunches in our daily lives may be an indication of untapped psychic abilities waiting to get developed. The book I refer to is called, appropriately, HUNCHES and it was out of print for decades until MoJo Bros Publishing recently re-issued it. I am glad it is back in print! This is the single best book I have ever read on the subject of recognizing and developing personal psychic abilities. It tells of the various forms of ability – clairvoyance, clairaudience, prophetic dreaming, and more. It even includes a DREAM BOOK listing the traditional meanings of things we see in dreams. As well as exercises for developing the skills needed.
Prolific early 20th Century writer Lloyd Kenyon Jones really hit one out of the park with this book! MoJo Bros. asked me to write an all-new introduction to the new, illustrated version of this classic – but after reading it, I declined to do so. The book as written is total and complete, and there was nothing I could possibly add to what Mr. Jones wrote.
If you are interested in developing your abilities in this realm, THIS is the book for you. Click the image above to pop over to amazon.com to see more about this book. It can change your life!

Coming Soon: The Next Big FEAR!

February 21, 2015

Why is it that the American people bounce from one dire fear to another with the sheer velocity of a steel marble in a pinball machine? Our neighbors (not you and me, right?) spend their lives encased in an amniotic sack of terror. Be it commies, or drug-crazed hippies, or psycho-veterans home from ‘Nam, or China, or Iraq or Ebola or you name it – we always seem to be facing “the greatest threat ever” to our existence.

Remember the hysteria over Ebola Fever? Two people contracted that in America last summer. Two. People feared elevators, subways, theaters, SNEEZES… and today people STILL fear Ebola Fever. When that peaked… right on cue, came ISIS: “Americans believe that Isis poses the most serious threat to the United States in the next decade, according to a poll,” says the story. Last year almost nobody in the country even heard of ISIS. President Obama publicly dismissed them as the “Junior Varsity” of threats. But then along came the military industrial complex’s fear machine and now ISIS has replaced Ebola Fever as the greatest threat EVER to Americans. Even though ISIS has no interest in coming here, has no air force to get it here, and is getting its ass kicked around the middle east, America stands poised to go to war against them. Why? Because people are afraid. Just like the commies scared their parents and grandparents, Americans now fear, dread, and cower at the thought of ISIS. Home of he Brave? Yeah, right. This is the pattern. Something you never heard of before suddenly pops up as our greatest threat. And, well, does “Hook, Line, and Sinker” ring a bell? Behold the hysteria:

Combining two sets of fear tactics, Congressman Michael McCaul, chair of the Homeland Security Committee, said that ISIS is the “greatest national security threat since 9/11.”

Mike Rogers, chair of the Intelligence Committee, said ISIS, “has the capability to tap people with Western passports to send them back to Europe and the United States for terrorist activity…” adding “This is as dangerous as it gets.

Senator Lindsey Graham said about the president, “I’m disappointed in the commander in chief for not addressing the threat that ISIL presents to the United States.” Of course to Graham everything that casts a shadow on his closet door is a threat. But you see how it works? Today, FEAR is the life-blood of American politics. It is how people are controlled.

NEXT BIG THREAT

Eventually all the manufactured fears fade away, as evanescent as the bubbles in a bottle of cheap domestic champagne. Then out of nowhere, seemingly without warning, comes the Next Big Threat – and off we go again! So, what is poised to be the next threat? By next summer the next threat, I predict, will meld several old threats: Communism. Cuba. AIDS. Just as America stands ready to end the senseless and anachronistic embargo inflicted upon the teeny island of Cuba, we get THE CUBAN AIDS SUPERBUG!

“Aggressive form of HIV uncovered in Cuba: HIV to AIDS in three years”
That’s what the article screams. And it is picking up steam, sure to become the newest, latest, biggest single-biggest threat to America we have ever seen. And it will happen just in time to scare people away from that Cuban vacation so long denied the denizens of The Land of The Free. Just watch. It will be the terror of the Summer of 2015. And then it will morph into an actual war-threat: Commies from Cuba paid by ISIS will sneak across he borders on tippy-toes as they start a campaign of bedding down our wholesome American virgins. And what will Lindsey Graham say: “WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE.” Right on cue.

SO WHAT SHOULD WE FEAR?

Fear seems to be a deep-seated need in humans. Our senses developed to notice sudden moves that could be deadly predators. Like saber-toothed tigers. So we once needed these fears to stay alive. We spend fortunes on scary movies and scary rides in “amusement” parks. Those who whip up fake fears know this and use it to control us. When we fear we don’t think. We get into fight/flight. And i goes without saying that the last thing most politicians want is a public that thinks. So they manufacture fears.
So to feed the need for fear, and to “vaccinate” you against the parade of faux fears which will certainly continue unabated, I herewith give you a real fear, free of charge. If you crave something to be afraid of, try this out for size: As I have watched the fears come and go over the decades, I have often wondered why people fail to recognize the real threats. Why do they fear something like Ebola, which has killed one person here (and he contracted it elsewhere) or the Soviet Union – yet they do not fear the biggest killer in all human history. In a nutshell: WHY DON’T AMERICANS FEAR DRIVING?
The latest numbers show that traffic “accidents” kill 92 Americans PER DAY. We have a staggering 11,000,000 traffic accidents per year. We’re talking 32,000 accidents PER DAY. Yet who thinks twice about pulling into traffic? Last year people were terrified to get into an elevator, lest they contract Ebola Fever – which was an impossibility. Remember, only two people contracted the disease in America, and both were healthcare workers who tended people who had the illness. Both survived. Yet people panicked and – based on nothing but fear – decided that the risk of getting Ebola Fever in a commuter train was so terrifying that they DROVE THEIR CARS INSTEAD, which is demonstrably a HUGE risk to life and limb. Hell, damn near everyone knows someone who was killed or injured by a car. I have known several – including a tailor who was crushed when a car crashed through the wall of the building in which she sat sewing. So why don’t people fear the REAL threat, traffic? Because to fear traffic would impoverish too many rich people. So we are sold cars as a) giving us freedom and b) giving us love. Look at the way cars are advertised. Cars crush people, operating them enrages people, they pollute the air, the fuel they burn causes international wars, and people go into massive debt just to own one when most people do not even need one. Millions of people each day clog the roads with cars schlepping one person from here to there. And nearly 100 a day, every day, will die because of them. But we don’t fear them. Does this make sense?

the-longest-traffic-jam-in-history-12-days-62-mile-long-47237-7

Of course not! Yet the fact remains that irrational fears come and go, driven by a media that exists and thrives on selling these fears. But we never get drilled in fearing cars. Car sales run the economy. Their ads contribute billions to the corporate media. Over $665 per car is spent on advertising. Through ads, car driving gives the illusion of freedom even though THEY ARE THE BIGGEST DAILY THREAT WE FACE. And we face this threat without a second thought. Think about that, and ask yourself why we fear something that is no threat to us, like Ebola or ISIS or Iran, yet we give no thought to the biggest threat we face every single day. Who is doing this to you and why do they do it?

FREE YOURSELF FROM FEAR

Whipping up fear to manipulate people, and milk them for all they are worth, is nothing new. It was the basis of the “lighthearted” show The Music Man. I often point out one show stopping number from that show to illustrate all we need to know about politics today. Take 4 minutes to see how it works:

Fun, right?
LISTEN: You do not need to live in a state of fear, and certainly not a series of never-ending fears instilled in you by people who will profit from that fear, as we saw in that movie clip. Learn how to break the shackles of fear. Almost 100 years ago, in 1919 during the time of the Bolshevik Panic that swept America, a book appeared. UNMASKING FEAR details the grip in which fear holds us and what we can do about it. History shows us that FEAR is still a prime method of control. If you suddenly fear something that you never heard of, ask yourself why? How did you come to fear this? Who told you to? What is in it for them? And read this book. I wrote the new introduction which puts it into historical context. As we go from fear to fear every few months, who can people be expected to relax and dwell on the historical precedents from 100 years ago? If you have had enough… If you don’t want to be victimized by an unending stream of irrational fears, this is the book for you. One warning: Don’t let anyone scare you away from this book. They try. Don’t let them succeed. Click the image to get a copy of this small, yet liberating volume.

You Can Live Forever…

The Return of a Classic!

For many among us, this is a very rough time of year. This is the time of year that gets many people down. We associate this season with past happiness and also with past sorrow. Memories of childhood, both good and bad, can overwhelm us.

Also, as the year ends, I hear from many people who just feel as though they could have – or “should have” – done more in the past months. As one year passes and another begins, a sense of loss is not uncommon. Even though years, and months or days, are arbitrary divisions, we have been trained to give them meaning. The end of the year is especially endowed with meaning and ritual. And of course, perhaps the most demeaning ritual ever devised now comes into play: The New Year Resolution List. Mostly, this list becomes a litany of things we dislike about ourselves and things which we “failed” to fix in the past 12 months. To me, this list is about as masochistic as it gets. A self-flagellation that would do a dark-ages monk proud.

Add to that, the unrelenting pressure put upon us by retailers shoving product after product at us… making people feel less than whole if we lack certain items – items that never even existed a short time ago! – or don’t have the money to buy them now. It is a terrible crime, to instill continuous wants and desires in people to the point where they become deranged with cravings. Witness the spectacles of people bursting into the malls after Thanksgiving Day. It is not any specific product they crave in their mob frenzy. It is happiness. They just want happiness. Well happiness is not going to come to you from anything companies spend a billion dollar to promote. That is what we know as the Post-Holiday Blues. You got what you craved, but you are still just… you. Even though being YOU is the biggest gift you can have. We are trained to think otherwise. No mall sells happiness. They sell transitory elation, but that is about it. It fades pretty fast, as we all have seen.

If you are feeling that sense of loss and experiencing the feeling that you don’t matter, or that you missed the mark last year, then I strongly recommend this book: YOU CAN LIVE FOREVER. This long out of print book examines how people touch each other in more ways than may be instantly visible. Especially when our vision is bedimmed by the fog of memories and self-doubt. Look at this:

“You, yourself, who are reading this, have an influence unknown to you. What you do is unique; you are the only person who has your qualities of mind and heart, soul and body. You are an individual; therefore you are important even though you may not know many people. You will leave something behind you, not merely goods and chattels, but an impression, an influence, which will remain perhaps to the end of time!”

That is from this book. Every life is valuable, unique, NEEDED, and that includes you! Everything we do influences others and indeed our actions, be they humble or writ large, change the world. This book celebrates the individual! If the season has you doubting yourself – if you are starting to feel isolated and alone – please read this inspiring volume. After decades out of print, this work of uplifting stories is back to show us – when we need it most – that life is a CIRCLE and that all we are and all that we do travels out into the universe.

Take look at the ad, which is the original ad for this book. Of course, the price is more than one dollar now, but adjusted for inflation the cost of the book today is about the same as it was in the mid-1940s. That is how the publisher wanted it. This book is too important to miss out on. Through its inspiring pages, this helpful work can help you to open the door to a more serene life of contentment and happiness. True happiness.

When the people at Mojo Bros. Classics asked me to write a forward for this new edition, I read the book and decided that I could not add anything to it. Author John Berry Cavan examines lives of famed persons as well as everyday people to show how each and everyone of us is indeed important and influential. Although I do not share some of his religious views, that is no reason to scorn the book. There are many belief systems in the world, and in the end, this author’s system is one of understanding.

Please consider reading this book. It has so very much to offer. Just click HERE or click on either image above to go to amazon.com to see how to get your copy.

And always remember: You are important!

Medicine KILLED Robin Williams

November 13, 2014

Robin_Williams_Canada

It is the leading cause of death.
And now it reportedly killed Robin Williams.

From the official report on Mr. Williams’ death: “The condition [Lewy Body Dementia], coupled with his Parksinon’s and the medication he was taking to combat it, causes hallucinations.”

The key words here are AND THE MEDICATION HE WAS TAKING.

Further, the report says, “Lewy Body Dementia is… exacerbated by Parkinson’s medication.” Exacerbated is a $10 word for “made worse.” People taking the medication experience hallucinations such as “phantom objects, people or animals. The patients often try to converse with the illusions.”

OFTEN… often… This is not only common, it happens OFTEN

And yet the drug is administered and meant to be taken for life. Allopathic medicine, which is the dominant form of treatment currently, tries to match a particular drug for a given disease – no matter who is suffering.  This system is less than a century old.  Yet now, death by medicine and medical treatment is THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN AMERICA. A conservative estimate puts the annual American deaths by medicine at 783,936. By way of comparison, in 2001 699,697 died of heart disease. 553,251 succumbed to cancer. This puts death by medicine way in the lead.

Now, according to the official report, we can add the beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams to the list of those who suffered an iatrogenic death (iatrogenic – adjective: of or relating to illness caused by medical examination or treatment).

I am not saying avoid western allopathic medicine. Just educate yourself and question the doctors at every single step of the process. And always remember that medical treatment is now the leading cause of death in our culture. History shows that once the pharmaceutical industry got hold of, and invested in, medical schools early in the 20th Century, the treatment paradigm shifted from curing disease to keeping people on medication for life and using one method of treatment, one drug, for everyone.  What happened to identifying an illness and curing the patient?  What happened to healing?  Now, to the delight of drug companies, doctors identify an illness, announce that you will suffer for life and need to take pills that can cost hundreds – even thousands – of dollars a month. Drugs are now more expensive than ever before in history, and medicine no longer concentrates on cures and healing, focusing instead on making life-long customers for drug companies. Why did it happen? That is easy to answer: Money. There’s tons of money in keeping people on costly drugs for life, especially when the price of the drug always goes up.  As a middle-aged man myself, just a few years younger than Mr. Williams was at the time of his death, it still shocks medical professionals when they see that I am on no medications. They simply do not understand it. To them, aging is something that in and of itself requires treatment. Chronic treatment. Costly treatment. Permanent treatment. I know people younger than I am who take over eight medications a day. The chances of a bad interaction when taking that many drugs is… 100%.  And forget about “side-effects.”  Any honest medical practitioner will tell you that there is no such thing as a side-effect. That expression is a term of art, a euphemism, to describe anything that a drug does that doctors don’t want it to do.

KILLER DRUGS APPROVED THEN WITHDRAWN

Think of all the wonder drugs, peddled relentlessly on TV and in magazines, that end up killing people by the thousands. All were first approved by the FDA – which does absolutely no testing, relying on the drug companies for that. Then, when the bodies pile up, the FDA pulls the drug and people say with a note of triumph, “The system works.”
The list of drugs approved then withdrawn from the market when proven to be deadly, is staggering. Sometimes, deadly drugs are yanked from American markets yet still sold over-seas. What is that if not deliberate homicide?
CLICK HERE for another list of 35 drugs horrendous approved then yanked…

The western medical system is fine, a far as I am concerned, for acute issues. A broken leg. Kidney stones. Heart by-pass surgery. You know… plumbing. But the idea that we should all BEWARE of “restless leg syndrome” and then get drugged for life is just bilking people. That is why you see so many drugs advertised on TV. I have talked with doctors who now regularly have to educate patients who come to them demanding a certain drug. One urologist I spoke to said he spent time explaining to a woman who came to see him that she did not in any way, shape, or form need a prescription drug for prostate problems. The woman was his mother-on-law. It may sound like a funny story, but this is what to expect when drugs are marketed directly to people like business markets candy bars. Mass media exists to create a need and they succeed alarmingly well.

WHERE DO THE NEW DISEASES COME FROM?

Many years ago the brilliant comedian Victor Borge joked about his uncle who went bankrupt because “he invented a cure for which there was no disease.” Today, that is no longer a gag. Pharma invents diseases and syndromes that they then claim can be treated by drugs that are, just by coincidence, losing their patent protection. Coming up with a new use for a drug extends the patent and thus its exclusive income stream. Recently the industry suffered a huge loss when India revised its patent system to allow for generics. Is it any wonder then that here, in America, generic prices are now soaring (see link above)?

Most important, as that woman in the urology office shows, when you encounter western medicine these days, you need to do your homework. This happened to me: I have a perfectly nice doctor. He and I talk things over and I command his time, refusing to be seen in just 10 minutes, as the office managers mandate. With my body, I take my time. And his. In spite of this care, even he prescribed a medication for me that, it turned out, is FATAL for people who have a particular digestive problem. I have that digestive problem, and he knew it. But his books said that people who formulate kidney stones should take this drug so he prescribed it. I looked at the information put out by the drug company itself and found the danger. Right there in print. Not from some hysterical “new age” website, but from the drug makes themselves.
My doctor could have killed me.
And mine would have been yet another iatrogenic death.
Last year, after “routine surgery,” I picked up what is call an “HAI” (Hospital Acquired Infection) that landed me in the hospital, in ever-weakinging condition, for over a week. This is so common that now, under the Affordable Care Act, hospitals are no longer allowed to charge patients for such treatment in an effort to cut down on such infections.
This makes twice, in a single year, that I almost died as a result of medical care. TWICE. In one year.
As I mentioned above, the current allopathic system of medicine is barely a century old – yet systems used successfully for centuries, such as Ayurvedic medicine, are trivialized as “alternative.” Don’t you believe it. There is more to healing than a lifetime of drug taking.

For a look at disease and medicine from another, older perspective, here is a book that dates back to the dawn of the modern pharmaceutical-dominated system.
