Madness in the Method

August 5, 2018

Don’t mistake the method… for the goal.

If you see your method as capitalism, go for it.
If you see your method as socialism, go for it.
I view methods as a boat used for getting us where we think we need to go.
But once we get there, we no longer need the boat. We leave the boat at the shore.
So why cling to the boat?
Why must people work at getting others use their method?
One must feel terribly insecure about a method if they need everyone else to use it.
Zealots and missionaries reek of insecurity.
Look:
If I stand in New York City and want to get to Nebraska, I go west.
If you stand in Los Angeles and want to get to Nebraska, you go east.
Two opposed directions, yet we both arrive at the same place. The place we both felt we had to reach.

Clinging to the method, after arrival, makes no sense.
We get to Nebraska and stop. We have arrived.
Fighting for one’s method as THE method leads to frustration, anger, and lunacy.
You will never get that, so why fight for it?
It takes a special ego-mania and arrogance for anyone to claim their method as THE method for everyone else in the world. By feeling this way, the cultural missionaries put themselves between a rock and a hard place – with nowhere to go.

The method serves you… you don’t serve the method.
USE a method. Then discard it.
Clinging to it and then demanding others use it leads to disaster and bigotry.
Don’t mistake the method… for the goal.
====
People who cling to a method do so out of fear. Having grown accustomed to rowing their boat, they fear abandoning it and just LIVING. We see a perfect example of this in the millionaire who struggles to become a billionaire. Why? Fear of abandoning the method that led to millions when one can have billions. They arrived long ago but still paddle the boat endlessly.
Mass media promotes fear on a large scale.
They use fear to keep people on edge, so they will continue viewing and buying their products. Fear forms the basis of almost all advertising. Fear of failure… fear of unpopularity… fear of appearing “old-fashioned”… fear of looking old. Fear puts us at war with our own body. Did you know that the Weight Loss Industry is America’s only growth business with a 100% dissatisfied customer base? Fear does that.
Break the cycle of fear!

The classic 1919 book now reissued with new introductions by me. There is no reason to live your life in fear! Wake up to the way orthodox religion & Other “Powers That Be” control the population THROUGH FEAR! An invaluable treatise, this book is a must-read for anyone who wants to lead a free, independent life. A life WITHOUT FEAR! While some people will no doubt be offended and shocked by this book’s stance against organized religion seeking to control our lives, while those who use fear themselves will attempt to squelch this book, by misrepresenting the contents and belittling it, this book bravely exposes the way the manipulators of fear seek to hold onto power by any means necessary. Beware of those who would mislead you about this! Fear is all they have and they will use fear to stop YOU from reading this liberating book. The new introduction puts the book in its historical context and shows why it is still relevant today.

I Must’ve Slept Through The Revolution…

May 20, 2018

Times Square NYC Post-Cold War

During the cold war, millions of Americans lived in fear of the USSR taking us over.

Whenever I’d meet such frightened people I would ask: “And what exactly will Russia do with America once they take us over?”
Here is what I was told:
We will have masked police with machine guns in our streets…
The government will tap all our phones and read our mail…
News will not report events, but will tell us just what government wants us to think…
Journalists who don’t fall in line will be prosecuted for telling the truth…
Our water will be poisoned…
Our votes won’t count…
An elite will control the economy…
Protest will be stifled or controlled by a handful of people…
Secret Police will infiltrate private groups…
We will live in a constant state of war overseas…
We’ll have no medical care…
People will be forced to work three jobs just to survive…
Government will ignore our complaints…
Millions of Americans will be in prison…
People will starve as those in power get richer and richer…
Government will be shrouded in secrecy for “security” reasons…
Hmmmm.
I guess Russia DID take over America after all.

HOPE and THE BIG CON

April 16, 2018

NOTE: This will likely be my longest blog post to date. It demands the space because the issue involves every aspect of our lives…

“It is not yours to finish the task, but neither are you free to set it aside.” – Rabbi Tarfon, Pirke Avot 2:21

“For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.” – T.S. Eliot

—–

In 2016, the presidential election day arrived at the culmination of a staggeringly lengthy 19-month election cycle. Exposure to this lengthy, drawn-out process, played out as a TV show every day, warped the minds of many people – people who now find them selves unable to accept the election results or let go of the process. They still argue over an election that the people decided well over 500 days ago. Corporate news media encourages this obsession, as newspapers and TV shows deliver a steady stream of excuses for the democrat losing the election: Russia, Fake News, The DNC, sexism, Comey, Anthony Weiner, Bernie Sanders, Jill Stein and on and on ad nauseam. A new excuse pops up every few weeks, the latest (as of this writing) being that women were somehow bullied into voting for a particular candidate by their husbands.

This fixation with the past presents a stark deviation in the way our politics normally operate. With this essay, I will lay out, for all to see, the way in which our political system works to distract people… to con people.

Party politics has become the tool employed by the Powers That Be to divide The People and make sure that we dilute our deep power as we squabble endlessly about the next election.
By letting Party Politics take our attention away from the NOW and focusing instead on the next election, many people have permitted themselves to live in an imaginary future; a future created by advertising people and campaign professionals.
In Party Politics, nothing holds more importance than the next election. How many times have we been told, “Sure I believe in Third Party candidates. But… THIS TIME THE ELECTION IS TOO IMPORTANT!” No matter what the issue, the Party refrain is always “This is not the right time.”
With Party Politics, issues mean absolutely nothing. Democrats join Republicans to gut banking regulations and to wage war.  Only the FUTURE matters. We always hear promises for the future. By focusing our attention on the future instead of the present, we allow ourselves to get suckered into sheepishly accepting any current situation.
Well here’s a newsflash: The future never comes. The time is always NOW.

As Lewis Carrol wrote:
“The rule is, jam to-morrow and jam yesterday – but never jam to-day.”
“It must come sometimes to ‘jam to-day’,” Alice objected.
“No, it can’t,” said the Queen. “It’s jam every other day: to-day isn’t any other day, you know.”
“I don’t understand you,” said Alice. “It’s dreadfully confusing!”

And once we allow ourselves to get confused, we make ourselves like a prairie chicken to a circling hawk – ripe for the picking.

Hope and the Con Artist
Placing our focus on some future HOPE is the keystone of every con game. All con games rely on filling the scam’s “mark” with the hope of an imagined future payoff. Without this fake hope, nobody can con you. With it, anyone can – and will – con you.  Whether the payoff is 45% return on investment (Ponzi) or flipping congress (party politics) the surest sign of a con job is that it turns our heads away from now and aims us at an imagined future.

We have no power in the future. We only have power now.

So when we have our attention manipulated away from NOW, we willingly give up any power we have. When we see an unjust condition that outrages us, to shout “NEVER AGAIN” (meaning in the future) is meaningless compared to “IT STOPS NOW”. “Never again” means we accept it now.

Although it may sound counterintuitive, I believe that the worst advice we can possibly follow is KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE. Looking unwaveringly at some future result creates a distraction that takes our focus off the NOW. To combat this, we need to deal with WHAT IS and not that which we have been fooled into imagining will come sometime in the future. You see something you want to change? Work to change it NOW. Do what you need to do NOW and do it without the lust for future results. As T.S. Eliot noted: “For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business.” If you fail, you fail. Big deal. But you didn’t divert your attention to some nebulous time far away that never comes. You did your work to change things here, now. Where it counts. This will take some work on our part. Earlier this month, striking teachers in Oklahoma received this startling news: “PRESIDENT OF OKLAHOMA’S LARGEST TEACHERS UNION CALLS FOR END TO STRIKE; SAYS THE FOCUS SHOULD SHIFT TO MIDTERM ELECTION” (AP, Apr. 12, 2018). Just as the teachers started getting solid results, the union shifted them away from NOW to next November and some vague future.

Spotting A Con Artist
All con artists have one thing in common: The con artist will always, relentlessly talk of the future so that you will not examine what’s happening now. This holds especially true for the political bunko artist. Example: Remember Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign theme song? “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow.”
And what did Franklin Roosevelt use as a campaign theme song? “Happy Days Are Here Again.”
FDR concentrated on NOW. Bill Clinton, who time has revealed as a con man (Remember “Slick Willie”?) clearly wanted voters to ignore what he does NOW and keep thinking about the future.
And what happened to that person in 2008 who ran on “HOPE AND CHANGE”? Remember how that turned out? It was all a whimsy, an illusion because HOPE AND CHANGE mean different things to each one of us. And that is what the con artist does; gets us each to see what we want to see instead of reality.

How We Limit Our Power
All scams, from the politics of “hope” to mega-lotteries, hinge on yanking us out of the present and into a future time that simply won’t ever come. I have known a great many people who really believed: “When I’m rich and famous then I will be happy!” It became the driving force in their lives. And some of them got their wish… only to discover that they are still the same damn person they always were – only now they have money and people know who they are. Several of these people killed themselves upon attaining their goal.

I knew a woman who wanted to be a writer. Not because she enjoyed writing. Not because she had something special to say. She wanted to be a writer because she saw a whole imagined future blossoming from her literary efforts. She had it all laid out, refined over years of dreaming: She would write a novel. Her book would get published (after a bidding war among the big publishers). The book would receive glowing, rave reviews. The press would herald the arrival of a new literary lion. The book’s movie rights would sell for a record-setting price. She would be rich and famous. And then… her family will finally respect her and envy her. She will be… somebody.
Does it come as a surprise to you that over the years this woman started several projects but never finished a single one? With such high stakes as she imagined hanging in the balance, with her imagined future-self depending upon the perceived success of her writing, she made the act of setting words to paper a task daunting beyond belief. Her “hope” limited her ability top do the one thing she claimed to want to do. She stymied herself by making the responsibility of writing into something overwhelming. She just could not do it. One of the last times she and I spoke to each other, I asked her a simple question: “Do you want to be a writer? Or do you want to be a rich and famous writer? Because those are two different things.”

The Lottery Con
Lotteries – especially the so-called “mega” lotteries – rely on people harboring outlandish hopes for their future. The state, through its unremitting lottery advertising campaigns, fill the mind with these future hopes, making them seem within reach. As noted, this focus on the future is the surest sign of a con job. And people buy the tickets knowing that the odds of winning are against them and despite the fact that stories of the ruined lives of lottery winners are legion. I knew one such person. He snagged a substantial amount of lottery money in the 1970s – it, as he hoped, it changed his whole life: Marriage. Home. Popularity. Everything he thought he wanted he got. And when the money ran out… so did his wife and his “friends”. Unable to maintain the house, he lost that too. The lottery – even though he’d won it –  just didn’t turn out the way he’d… hoped.

Hope and Fear
Along with stressing HOPE for the future, another sign of a con job is a morbid fear of the future:
“32 Million People Would Lose Coverage If Law Repealed!”
“Congress To Cut Social Security & Medicare After Passing Tax Plan!”
“Missile Test Shows North Korea Can Hit All Of U.S.A.!”
“U.S. Life Expectancy Declines For The First Time since 1993!”
“Sea Level Rise Will Flood Hundreds of Cities in Near Future!”
These actual headlines instill dread – and dread becomes the fertilizer required for the planting and growing of fake hopes. If you find yourself carrying this dread ask yourself who instilled it in you. Then ask what is in it for them.

A Lively Example
Consider the con artist in the Broadway musical “The Music Man.” In the early years of the 20th Century, “Professor” Harold Hill comes to River City, Iowa. He scouts the town for something, anything, to exploit for his own ends. He latches on to something new happening now – the town of River City has gotten its very first pool table. And he uses this pool table to turn the attention of the town away from now to the future. Hill gathers together some people and points out the pool table, asking them if they are aware of a great danger – “the caliber of disaster indicated by the presence of a pool table in your community.” He then relentlessly and with great energy paints a bleak and disastrous future for the town, all because of the pool table. Hill fills the townspeople with the fear of a total breakdown of the social structure in River City among… THE CHILDREN. Hill even invokes patriotism in the cause of protecting the town from the menacing, threatening, treacherous pool table. All to protect… the children.
Then, after letting the citizens of River City chew on this for a couple of days, letting their imaginations run wild, Hill conveniently offers them a solution to their imagined ills. A solution that paints a rosy future for the town and its precious children. A solution that will fill his pockets with money.
And there we see the Big Con’s trifecta of HOPE/FEAR/AN IMAGINED IDYLLIC FUTURE. The people of River City will… take back their town and their problems will be solved. For the con artist, the parlay of HOPE/FEAR/IDYLLIC FUTURE remains highly profitable to this very day.
Why do con artists bring up the children? Because (can you just hear it?) “The children are our hope for the future.” Which politician fails to use this scam? I always think of the Music Man and the devious Prof. Hill when I hear the endless yammering of today’s politicians who say we must elect them… for the children.

Planning
None of this is meant to knock normal planning and scheduling in life. That’s what we do to arrange an orderly and well-regulated existence. We make plans in the name of efficiency and, when dealing with others, to maintain common courtesy. This type of quotidian preparation is a far cry from basing life on imagined, desired events that we whip up into importance beyond all reality. Thinking “when I’m rich, then I’ll be happy” or “If I elect Candidate Floogleman, then the nation will be great again” is ridiculous. Normal planning is practical. The future planning of the con artist is just other fanciful. It’s the difference between being practical enough to catch a flight on time, and some chimera about a future which somebody deliberately planted in your head for his or her own purposes. The former gets YOU somewhere by your own efforts. The latter gets SOMEONE ELSE somewhere through your exploited efforts. Efforts that they planted in your mind.
Planning is about realistic goals. Saving money for a house, for instance. Not an illusion like “when I get that house then my life will be perfect.”
Politically, realism means voting for a candidate with whom you agree, instead of voting for a candidate who offers no more than fear-based slogans about the future. Beware silly promises for the future like things like “we’ll take the country back” or “no more crime in the streets”…
Don’t let promises for the future take your mind of life now. Labor organizer Joe Hill knew how easy it was to manipulate people with promises. As Hill wrote in the song THE PREACHER AND THE SLAVE:

You will eat, bye and bye,
In that glorious land above the sky;
Work and pray, live on hay,
You’ll get pie in the sky when you die.

Joe Hill knew…

Practical Action
A few years back, on a hot July afternoon, I began shivering. I felt so cold! To remedy this, I went to the window to lower the AC and discovered it was not even on. Immediately I went to the medicine chest for the thermometer and took my temperature. To my horror, the mercury registered a tad above 103º and I went straight to the hospital. I didn’t allow myself to be distracted by somebody saying, “Someday we will have better thermometers!” Or “Next year we will take back your temperature!” I took direct action and that action saved my life. Yes, I spent eight days in the hospital mostly in intensive care – but I did what was needed NOW and did not piss away my life hoping for an imaginary future when things would somehow be better.
THAT is why I am alive today to write this…

Review Excerpt: “This book explains in crystal clarity HOW and WHY unconscionable individuals and organizations saturate others with FEAR every single day. It’s been going on as long as people have been thieves and hungry to steal the freedom and goods of others. We are barraged with FEAR TACTICS daily by those who eagerly take money out of our pockets; usurp the freedom from our lives and keep us as slaves by clouding our thoughts with FEAR.” Read more HERE

The Clintons and Plantation Politics

April 15, 2016
hillary-clinton-old-hag-7

*****

There is a big swing Sanders will soon take against Clinton and she knows it is coming. Yet I predict she will be compelled to walk right into it; even force Sanders to use it.
Both Clintons cling to the patronizing, condescending, extremely White supremacist notion that Black people in America are either criminals or crime victims, all of whom desperately need help to stand on their own two feet. All Black youth are “inner city” denizens who live “at risk.”
In Clintonian America, Black people seem to have a very narrow range of concerns. When Sunday rolls around and the Clintons inflict themselves on every Black church from New England to the Mason Dixon Line, what do they talk about?
Will they ever take to the pulpit to discuss international trade? Global warming? GMOs? Health care? Regime Change (including Honduras) which the Clintons so love? The decline of the bees, so vital to agriculture? No. The message is always about crime, welfare, and “at risk” youth.
And if, at these events, a few Black persons should have the gall to rise up and show offense – then the Clintons erupt is an orgy of self-congratulation about all the Black people they saved from either a life of crime or from the bullets of criminals.
Here is Bill when challenged by BLM:
“I had an assault weapons ban in it [the crime bill]. I had money for inner-city kids, for out of school activities. We had 110,000 police officers so we could keep people on the street, not in these military vehicles, and the police would look like the people they were policing. We did all that. And [Joe] Biden [then senator and chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee] said, you can’t pass this bill, the Republicans will kill it, if you don’t put more sentencing in it.”
This is how Hillary and Bill always frame their appeal to African Americans.

And when she makes the inevitable strident attack on the Sanders civil rights record, he will take that swing I mentioned above:
Madam Secretary, I refuse to be criticized on the issue of Civil Rights by a former proud Goldwater Girl.

I believe Mrs. Clinton will invite this retort willingly – so that she can then comfortably and conveniently blame her loss on “that one damn Goldwater line Sanders said about me,” and not blame it on the clear fact that people just don’t want her, and don’t like her, and certainly do not trust her.

Not “History” and Not “Heritage”… It is about TODAY

June 30, 2015

Just to be clear:  Flying the confederate battle flag today is not about heritage or history. That is a cheap cop-out. It is about what certain vile and violent miscreants do with that flag now; in the 21st Century.

The people interested in the flag’s history and heritage blew it. They are Johnny Come Latelys. If they respected this flag, then they should not have twiddled their thumbs all these years while the KKK and other domestic terrorists appropriated their beloved symbol flag. That is the flag issue in a nutshell. It is not about history. It is about NOW.

Like THIS terrorist group: rebel-klan

And THIS mass murdering terrorist: 150620145525-04-lastrhodesian-com-dylann-roof-super-169

This is what you have allowed your flag to represent, and you did so quietly, without a goddamned peep about “heritage” and “history” for over 50 years. That silence is YOUR history and YOUR heritage. Your shame, too.

So, you blew it. Now pay the price and stop whining about “political correctness” like little school girls. You let your flag be hijacked by killers in your community (you knew who they were) and you just sat on your asses while it happened. It’s judgment day. The people of the United  States have spoken. If you get a case of the vapors over this, you brought it on yourselves through your silence in the face of pure evil.

Your flag is toast.

Live with it… because you allowed people to die with it. etick_22_g_effigy01_412

UPDATE:

Let’s try this again. I have been hearing from enraged simpletons who still babble on and on about “HERITAGE AND HISTORY,” meaning they have utterly missed the point. So this is for you:

If someone denounces the KKK, do you reply: “But white sheets have so much HISTORY and are part of my HERITAGE? Hospitals use white sheets to keep clean. Babies are diapered in white sheets. My GRANDMA used white sheets.”? I should hope not. Because it means NOTHING. I don’t give a shit what your red flag USED to mean, I have been talking about what it means NOW, TODAY because YOU let it be used for decades by racist, bigoted, hateful, murdering piles of human excrement. Like these high school kids protesting their school’s admission of AMERICAN children who were descended from people YOUR folks used as farm machines. These are kids. Who among you said to them: “Please don’t disgrace the heritage and history of our sacred, honorable flag, which by the way had nothing at all to do with slavery.” None of you said it. (And while we’re on the topic, if the civil war had nothing to do with keeping Africans as slaves why did you AND YOUR BRATS always wave that flag when African-Americans insisted on their rights? This alone shows you are either liars or a pack of ignoramuses.)
10986438_10200785179629631_536926687849610440_o   This flag may have meant one thing 150 years ago, but today it means quite another thing. It means hate, oppression, bondage, lynching, bombings, Jim Crow, and more.

And… that change happened to the flag ON YOUR WATCH. You let it happen. You pissed on the History and Heritage you so recently discovered.

This is what I am trying to tell you – and if you had so much as a GED, you may get it.

Now, if you still hand me that HERITAGE/HISTORY crap, you are either grossly obtuse or willfully ignorant.

How Corporate Media “Colors” The News:

April 29, 2015

Checkout last October’s violent, destructive riot in Keene, New Hampshire. You did hear about it, right?
CNN said: “Tear gas and pepper spray hung in the air as police in riot gear descended on Keene, New Hampshire, on Saturday night, trying to disperse a rowdy crowd that brought chaos to the city’s 24th annual Pumpkin Festival, CNN affiliates reported.” Here is their caption on line: Screen Shot 2015-04-29 at 9.55.22 PM Note the language: ROWDY. UNRULY. They were a bunch of kids misbehaving… Oh? Take a gander at these naughty, naughty kids: keene-flipped-car 673695FBB41DA2622357B1F87C9B4B2E_787_442 la-na-nn-new-hampshire-pumpkin-riots-20141019 1413773191174.cached Pumpkin festival riots

You see what I mean…

Where was the live, coast to coast coverage of this looting, rioting, and wanton destruction? As I noted above, CNN described this riot as “UNRULY.” How would it have been perceived if video of the outbreak had been run over and over? Would these wholesome New Englanders be called THUGS? Or OUTSIDE AGITATORS? What caused this 2012 New Hampshire riot? The annual Jack-O-Lantern Festival. That is it. Nothing else. They rioted for fun: Steven French, 18, who was visiting from Haverhill, Massachusetts, described the chaotic scene to the local paper, The Keene Sentinel, as “wicked.” “It’s just like a rush. You’re revolting from the cops,” he told the paper. “It’s a blast to do things that you’re not supposed to do.” So, by his own admission, Steven French came all the way from another state! Why was this THUG not denounced over and over again as an OUTSIDE AGITATOR causing TROUBLE?

It was good clean fun, when these people did it, and did it for no good reason. I don’t think there is ever an excuse for such violence. And yet, if we look, there is always a reason. And when people denounce reasons as “an excuse,” they are simply trying to shut down discussion. So let’s look at one small point about Baltimore: In a city of only 622,000 – they have recently had to pay out over a million a year for police brutality cases. That is what the media calls it, but “Police Brutality” is a rather sweeping category. What happened is the Baltimore cops arrested hundreds of Black people over the years, without cause – and the District Attorney dismissed the cases, noting that there was no cause for the arrests. This is where the cash settlements came in. But – and this is a BIG but – all the people arrested STILL, to this day, have arrest records. Owing to this, they have not been able to get good jobs. When applying for work, they ALWAYS have to fill out forms saying that they have an arrest record. When the arrest is looked up, there it is, listed with the charges that were later found baseless. But THAT important fact is not mentioned. People are abused and they are suffering and the pot has been simmering for a long, long time. And anyone who knew about it, knew it would explode one day. Now it has. This is not an excuse. It is just one of the reasons, and we avoid reason at our own peril. How would you feel if you spent the rest of your life with an arrest record that you knew was false? Would you whistle a happy tune? Would you say, “Oh well, things happen”? Or would you be angry? Good and goddamned angry? What if you found out that almost all your friends also were also unjustly stigmatized? Would you form a choir and sing about it? Really? There is no trust of the police among people thus abused. And when someone was killed in police custody – for the “crime” of making EYE CONTACT with cops (well Baltimore is below the Mason-Dixon Line) that threw fuel on the long-smoldering fire. An outbreak was thoroughly inevitable.

And was the Pumpkin Riot also inevitable? We won’t know that without knowing the reasons behind it, if any. But we do know one thing: It was predictable. It had happened just like this the year before. So this was not an isolated incident. And it didn’t have any obvious reason. It was not in protest of anything. It was not because of injustice, not to redress grievances. It happened just for the hell of it. That makes it worse than Baltimore or Ferguson. So I ask: How long will the New Hampshire thugs get to do this, year in and year out, without the same scrutiny that attends outbreaks sparked by injustice and constant abuse? Suppose the Pumpkin Festival had been held in Watts… Or Newark… Or Detroit? You can bet your last dollar you would have seen this live – as it happens! –  on all the cable “news” channels, and then for days afterwards. And you would have seen the usual parade of politicians denouncing it over and over and over – riots offer much in the way of media face time.

The circus we call “the news media” feeds into stereotypes, not to inform – but to fan the flames of anger and fear just to increase their viewer numbers and raise their advertising rates. That is all they exist for. Is that an “excuse” for their gross irresponsibility? No. But it is a reason. And for that reason, they will lie straight out just to affirm what they think people want to hear. If you need confirmation, that is what they did just before the events in Baltimore, when they reported – as fact – the outright lies of Michael T. Slager, the police officer who brutally gunned down Walter Scott, shooting him eight times in the back. You can read the details of this illustrative case of biased reporting HERE. 150407-walter-scott-shooting-mn-1915_0cf42eca3ddc9c732b31eaeaf6bfc7b3 So, where was the outrage in New Hampshire last year? Or the year before? I defy you to find coverage of the Pumpkin Riots that describes anyone as a THUG or GANG-BANGER or OUTSIDE AGITATOR. Look for any “news” network that ran video over and over until viewers were infuriated at the sight of the destruction. Look. You simply will not find it… But you will see the hate and anger the coverage creates.

And that is how the gatekeepers of news give YOU a distorted picture of reality.

44 Minutes of Vintage Right-Wing Insanity

February 11, 2013
Brought To You By The John Birch Society

Brought To You By The John Birch Society

What, you thought bat-shit crazy right-wingers were something new?

In 1965 cuddly, avuncular actor Walter Brennan recorded a screed to warn about how commies and beatniks are plotting to take over America through LBJ’s War on Poverty. That record was called HE’S YOUR UNCLE, NOT YOUR DAD and it was put out by KEY RECORDS, the show-biz wing of the whack-o JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. Here is how it is described on the back cover:

“Hilarious, yet completely factual, this record album finds Walter Brennan throwing a million-candlepower floodlight on the evils of imported and duty-free collectivism in our nation. Then, it brings into vivid focus the brave moves we must make if we are to preserve the dream of our founding fathers to save our constitutional Republic from the man-made nightmare it is becoming.”

So about this nightmare… exactly how will the commies destroy the United States? According to Brennan and his writer, they will accomplish this nefarious nightmare plot through (are you sitting down?)… Area Codes and Zip Codes! Yup. Area Codes and Zip Codes are a commie plot devised in WATTS by Adam Clayton Powell! (Then he praises PATRIOTIC NEGRO AMERICANS – he even names two! – so it’s ok. No bigot he.) Brennan then launches an attack on free-spending “DO-GOODERS.” I never got that about conservatives. To them, doing good is bad? Yes. Because then, as now conservatives hate poor people. They are spongers. They are loafers. They are welfare cheats. For a while there, I thought I was listening to a Mitt Romney speech from last year, not a political Neanderthal from 1965.

Here, in an LP undoubtedly owned by the disgruntled fathers of today’s idiot conservatives, you will discover the seeds of the Tea Party and their ilk. A few years later Brennan refused to support Richard Nixon for president, claiming he was a “do-gooder” liberal. Nixon! Nobody escapes Brennan’s angry conservative stereotyping and vituperation. So we get Welfare queens with 16 illegitimate children. African “head-hunters” populating UN delegations. Farm worker unions are all controlled by Castro. Of course, Castro was installed by our own State Department, according to the delusions presented here. No mention of Batista, the corrupt dictator who raped and pillaged the island of Cuba. No. Instead we hear about the Free Cubans whom Castro overthrew. Brennan knew Batista was good because… his corrupt regime repaid American foreign aide with 20% interest. All this man cares about is money. At times Brennan’s harangue sounds more like a psychotic rightwing accounting lesson than a man talking about “The Greatest Country In The World.”

Naturally, since this is a product of the John Birch Society, international communist plots abound, abetted by what Brennan calls lazy student beatnik agitators. It is funny today, but overall this exercise in political rage and hate makes Archie Bunker sound like St. Francis of Assisi.

Listen as Brennan reveals that the LBJ administration is, according to “sworn affidavits,” filled with IDENTIFIED COMMUNIST AGENTS. How does Brennan know? Sources include “ACCORDING TO THE GRAPEVINE.” It’s a riot! And what would a right wing paranoia festival be without a rant against France? I’ll refrain from quoting that. It has to be heard. And get this… THIS WAS SOLD AS A COMEDY ALBUM. You know, like Woody Woodbury, Lenny Bruce or Bill Cosby… So how are the jokes? Although the carefully chosen audience guffaws with wild abandon, most all of the alleged zinger just made me cringe. Witticisms like, “What did Italy ever give us? The mafia.” Yikes. He even tells a Jewish joke but, being essentially a coward as all conservatives are, he changes them to “Dutchmen.” I guess the writer knew better than to screw with Jews.

PATRIOTIC TWADDLE

And what, I ask you, would a zany rightwing screed be without the homey but totally bullshit little stories that Paul Harvey once specialized in? This record does not omit them. For just two examples Brennan makes the utterly false claim that George Washington, as a result of his sacrifice to the nation, died broke. Old George was the wealthiest man of his time and on his death left an estate worth $19 million dollars in today’s money. We should all be so broke. He also tells the nonsensical story that Martha Washington had to melt down her silver tea service so the new nation could make coins. While there is no evidence whatsoever that she did this, what if she did? For a woman married to the richest man in America to give up her teacups hardly qualifies as a sacrifice. Now, had she give up all their slaves, THAT would have been a sacrifice for it would indeed have broken them financially.

MONEY IS ALL THAT MATTERS

This fixation on money and riches is typical of the Goldwater right-wingers. As Brennan sums up his philosophy, he actually says that Life is just a chase to get money to come in. How bloody sad! We all know that Life is so much more than that. But the creators of this thing dwell on money. This is all Brennan carps about: all the money being “wasted” on “do good” efforts. We get dollars and cents from him but nary a trace of compassion for the “loafers, spongers, welfare cheats, students” which all poor people must be. Stripping money out of government programs is justified, according to Brennan, because The Founding Fathers didn’t want a free ride. Tell that to their slave labor… In the world of this record, stealing money from the poor is designed to HELP them. But it is clear that what we have here is greed, pure and simple. They crave the money in exactly the same way today’s conservatives DROOL when they think of the $2.7 Trillion surplus in social security. And yes, Brennan says that social security is a way to steal your money. All the now-standard conservative bullshit memes are here. This record is the acorn from which a rotted oak tree grew.

Ed Asner Explains It All

December 6, 2012

God, the righties are FURIOUS over this. One intellectual midget made a video repudiating it that is 50% LONGER than the original! The main point? If you agree with this you envy the rich. Really? Says more about the critic than what he criticizes. Take a look. This is a clear, concise and totally accurate picture of the mess we are in today. We, The People, can fix it.

More FOX “news” Hypocrisy!

March 24, 2012

This is what FOX "news" distributed in 2010 as its Holiday Gift! A DEADLY HOODIE!! Note the FOX logo...

Geraldo Rivera, formerly known as Jerry Rivers, stated on FOX “news” that Trayvon Martin was murdered because HE WORE A HOODIE! “I am urging the parents of black and Latino youngsters particularly not to let their children go out wearing hoodies. I think the hoodie is as much responsible for Trayvon Martin‘s death as much as George Zimmerman was. I bet you money, if he didn’t have that hoodie on, that nutty neighborhood watch guy wouldn’t have responded in that violent and aggressive way.”
Okay, so it’s the dead kid’s fault. BUT… do you know what FOX “news” gave out in 2010 as its annual xmas present? A BLACK HOODIE!!! I have attached a picture of the one they sent me (yes, I am on the gift list. I admit it)… ARE THEY TRYING TO KILL PEOPLE?????
